i would like to be a honey trap but do not wish to end in court and being sued!!! I plan to use a car tracking device and an audio video spy camera???
What would you be sued for?
I presume the intention is to catch criminals. What are they going to do – sue you for breach of their rights to pursue their criminality undetected?
There’s no civil liability for ‘entrapment’ (in the UK)

The Drift Innovation X170 Action Camera is the latest all-round helmet camera to be released onto the market and we would highly recommend it. When it comes to filming extreme sports, it is one of the best we have come across.
This new camera has been designed, not only to take high quality point-of-view photos and videos but also to be perfect for all extreme sports, whether that be skiing, mountain biking or rally driving, and it’s available from Action Cameras and is fantastic value for money!
When looking for a helmet camera you want to know that you are purchasing one that can pull out all of the stops and the X170 does just that. It ticks every single box that you could want an extreme sports camera to tick. Here is a list of some of the product’s main features:
* The X170 delivers DVD quality video and 5Mp photographs
* These functions can be controlled by a wireless RF remote control
* A 1.5″ screen helps you to line up the perfect shot and to show off your video right away
* Memory expansion up to 8Gb on SD card
* With a wide angle lens of 170º you will get all the action in your shot
* All the mounts that you need are provided, plus it has a metal 8mm mount
* Most importantly a price tag that is not going to break the bank
One of the first things that you’ll notice when taking your new X170 out of the box is the 1.5″ screen – something that we consider to be one of the product’s most desirable features. We found having a screen on the camera extremely useful for two reasons; firstly you can line up the best angle when mounting the camera so that you don’t get home after a long day out expecting to see brilliant videos only to find that you have been filming blue sky all day. Secondly, and more importantly is watching your videos on the screen with your mates straight after you’ve come off the slope, track, or water.
The wide angled lens also provides great advantages: with previous narrower angled cameras it was difficult to gain perspective of the speed because the lens only saw the track in front of you. With 170º field of view you will not only see the what is in front of you but also the scenery around you. This truly puts the speed in perspective and is the way forward for point-of-view cameras.
This camera may seem a bit backwards as it runs on the older style AA batteries, rather than the rechargeable lith-ion batteries that most cameras use these days. But considering all extreme sports are outdoors would you like batteries that can be quickly replaced or to have to find a wall socket to recharge your battery? We prefer to simply carry a spare set of batteries if we’re heading out for a long time. The guys at Drift Innovation seem to have thought this one through though and have therefore delivered the best solution.
In terms of mounting the new X170, the options are endless, as it has a built-in steel quarter inch thread (8mm thread) so you can attach it to suction mounts and rollbar mounts which are included in the kit. The quick release mount adapter easily inserts into the quarter inch thread securely, which can be used to attach the camera to each of the mounting options available in the box.
Also included with the camera are handlebar and helmet grips, so the camera can be mounted to anywhere you would want to, whether that is onto handlebars of motorbikes, push bikes and mountain bikes or the smooth surface of a helmet or bike’s fairing. The is also a goggle mount included and this is a really easy mount to use as you simply put your goggles strap into the mount and you’re ready to go. This can also be used with the headstrap whenever you don’t have a helmet with you.
The new X170 can even be used on its side or upside down, as the lens rotates 180º from one side to the other. This gives flexibility to mount the camera on either side of a helmet or on top while still being able to have an upright image by simply twisting the lens around.
The final feature and one of our favourite parts of the X170 kit is the radio frequency wireless remote control. It comes with a strap so you can safely secure to your wrist etc and it only contains two buttons that are large enough to be used with gloves on, so it really couldn’t be simpler to use. Also due to the fact that it works through radio frequency (as opposed to infra-red) it doesn’t need line-of-sight to operate and it works up to three metres away from the camera, making it a great asset to the kit.

can a 6 LED USB 300K Webcam Night Vision for PC Laptop+ Mic also be used with a desktop computer?
I was looking for a webcam on ebay and I purchased this one because it looked really nice, but I didn’t realize till after I bought it that it was a laptop webcam, just wondering if it can also be used with a desktop computer.
Of course possible, just connect it to the USB port at your desktop computer. If Windows can not install the driver automatically, visit the manufacturer’s website, you might get the required driver there. If it is not downloadable from there, search google for the driver, you may get that.

ALSO! if you have this camera, know someone who has it, or even want to just guess, do you know if the screen swivels so it faces the person being video taped? Cause I really want that feature, and if not, I think I’ll get something else. :]
I would strongly recommend against that sort of camcorder.
The Apiteks (and similar: DXG, Mustek) are cheap camcorders, and they cut performance in many ways. The originals used cheap webcam sensors rather than real camcorder sensors.. most of the current ones use older digital still camera sensors, rather than real camcorder sensors.
First thing… look at the lens. In general, the more glass you see (rather than plastic surrounding it to make it look larger), the better. This one has a 3:1 optical zoom, which is better than older Apiteks.. but pretty much any “real” camcorder has a 10:1 or better optical zoom.
Also, the lens size plus zoom range suggests the sensor size in the camera. The smaller the sensor, the worse performance you’ll get in low light… this kind tends to be pretty horrible in low light. And it can be worse for anything claiming “high def” or offering up many megapixels… it all comes down to the pixel size — a small sensor doesn’t get enough photons hitting it to create a good picture under low light, so they crank up the gain, and the result is an image full of noise.
It does depend on what you plan to do with the video. If you’re mainly interested in making YouTube clips to upload, and don’t expect to shoot inside without proper lighting, this will probably do a fine job, and it’s a bit cheaper than a “real” camcorder. If you’re looking to shoot for DVD, you want a better model. Same goes if you’re after something that’ll do justice to high-def work (PC and Blu-Ray).
For DVD, if you like the non-tape format, I’d recommend the Canon FS-100. This shoots on SD/SDHC cards as well, but it’s a real full function standard-def camcorder, great image quality, 48x optical zoom, and only about $100 more than the Apitek on Amazon. If you don’t mind tape, virtually any miniDV camcorder will seriously outperform the Apiteks.
If you want to shoot something that’ll look good on a Blu-Ray, the best thing is to look around for an older model of a mini-DV (tape) based HDV camcorder. The Canon HV20, for example, was the best consumer HD camcorder available a few years ago, and the image quality is still better than many of the $1000+ flash or HDD based camcorders.. I’ve seen these around, still, for something in the $400 range. You have to deal with the extra complexity of tape (way, way better than back in the analog camcorder days, but still more trouble than flash or HDD), but that’s the best quality per dollar you’ll find today.

How do I save surveillance camera video footage from a DVR system to my computer?
I recently caught someone knocking down one of my cameras and I wanted to save the video footage and enhance it up. How can I save the video footage so I can put it onto my computer?

Some DVR’s can connect to the network to allow remote viewing and backup. Check if your DVR has this feature by consulting the manual or asking the supplier.
I am assuming you dont have a CD or USB backup device on your DVR, so the only other way to backup to your PC is to try the following.
Buy or rent a USB video capture device, like the Dazzle product http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/ which allows you to connect any analogue video source to your PC, record it, touch up the video and output to any CD, DVD, Video file you like. It will take a very cheap BNC to phono cable to connect to the DVR to the Dazzle product.
Use the software provided with Dazzle to do what you need to.

How can I upload digital video from a digital video camera via USB to my MacBook??
i have a digital video camera by JVC that came with a USB cable. I have a MacBook and once I plug the camera into the Mcbook via USb, nothing happens. I dont know much about Mac and dont know where internally to locate the USB drive to promp it to upload. do i need some sort of software??
Iphoto. I have a macbook and a digital camera with a usb plug as well. When you plug in the camera, open up iphoto (assuming you have this software, if you recently purchased your mac you should have it) and when iphoto opens, follow the on screen directions.
