Why don’t digital reflex camera’s come with a mobile phone function?
Surely this way Minolta and Olympus could beat Nokia and others out of the market, rather than be victimised? Isn’t adding a phone function easier than making a proper camera?

The topic here is marketing. Samsung is the only real mobile phone producer wich experiments all this. For example, its new B600 phone has a 10 megapixel camera. Nokia is well behind with its N95 phone at 5 mpix as its top of the line.
AT the lattest CES there was one unknown Taiwan phone producer with a SLR GSM phone… but only one. but as you can imagine form the direction of all manufacturers, SLR phones are not even a remote priority.
Each year 600+ camera models reach the market, and only /at l;east this year/ 196 are SLRs. People like more the Point and Shoot or subcompacts under $300 than a real SLR with manual modes.
Mobiles in the other hand, are at its best now. In 2006 a BILLION cell phones were shipped. Growing at 28% yearly, why would you care to have a fine camera attached when all that most people do is take a picture at a party or concert_?
Even more, the US is not even current in its phone characteristics… just google DOMOCO, and you will see that phones are no brainers in America. *after more than 4 years finally a US co plans to intriduce it here( You dont buy a Coke, find a sex partner, bet at the horses, check your crops or watch the TV soap in your phone.. you make phone calls, do prehistoric number work, read some alphanumeric news readin, and watch almost frozen video on most mobiles. Smart for US is dumb for them in Asia and Orient. Try just Korea or Japan.. and you will see real communication.
Just try to imagine Olympus (not Konica/Minolta since it went out of photo business and Sony bought it and already has its Alpha DSLR/A100 incorporating its advantages) building facilities, expending in workforce and advertisement, and creating a culture of phones in its organigram…. billions to put at stake, current biz to set aside, and danger…. lots of it…. consumers to be convinced.. mmmm … hard stuff in this era where firing thousands is the most common corporate new….,

What is the best point-and-shoot digital camera on the market?
I’m very interested in photography but the camera I have now is quite cheap and always takes blurry pictures. I don’t think I am ready to handle a DSLR, but I’m open to it, I guess. haha. Thanks!
Don’t be afraid of a DSLR if you get a beginner model it teaches you how to use it. Look at a Nikon D40, its easy to use. It has manual modes but it also has programs that do the work for you and are almost point and shoot. And it’s a great camera.

If you decide to go with P&S go for something like a Canon powershot G9 or G10. Or just research your own and narrow it down. It all depends on you and what you’re going to use it for. just remember MP’s aren’t everything

There are many different levels of Nikon Coolpix camera’s depending upon your budget. The same goes for the Canon Powershot cameras.. Both brands also have many different levels of D-SLR cameras. You just have to do research and narrow it down and then you could ask yahoo again. But your question right now is very vague because there are so many variables and possibilities.

What type of lens and flash to purchase for a Canon Rebel XTI?
I am an amature photographer and just bought a Canon Rebel XTI. I’m trying to buy some accessories for it and I don’t know what to buy. I like to take pics of flowers, insect, especially food and performers on stage.
For flash, get the EX 430. For lenses get a prime and one zoom. The 50mm 1.8 EF is cheap but one of the best values. As for zoom, it depends on if you want telephoto or just standard zoom. Most people prefer an all in one zoom like 28-200m so they don’t have to interchange lens as often, and also have to buy lots of lens.

Digital SLR Camera Question… Nikon N60 Body?
I have a DSLR Camera (Fuji S1 / Nikon N60 Body) I am needing to know what the little lever that is located close to the bottom of the mount. I have a Nikon N60 Body and the lever is located near the area that reads “Nikon F-MOUNT” It appears to be broken. What does it do?
Nikon N60 is not a digital SLR. It’s a 35mm SLR.
There are two things near that place- The lens release button and the lever/ring to set the aperture. If any of these is broken then the camera needs to be repaired. The lens release button helps in unlocking the lens so that it can be detached from the body (for changing to another lens). 28 mm, 50 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm, or 200 mm?
On a 35mm SLR camera, 28mm or wider (lower number) would be considered a wide angle. The same holds true for any full-frame DSLR. The majority of DSLR’s uses smaller sensors (DX-sized) and usually crop the usable image 1.5x or 1.6x. Thus, most current DSLR’s have 18mm zooms to cover the “wider” range, as an 18mm lens gives the effective view of a 27mm lens on that camera body.

The Panasonic Viera TX-P37X10 is equipped with a sparkling new, G12 plasma panel and now has a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1;this is an amazing difference of 33% compared to the previous model. Improved panel performance has been noticed as the result of an enhanced production process that has included the Real Black Drive type of system (a system that works before discharge) as well as elevating the standard lighting. The 100Hz technology significantly benefits all signals. A more stable picture with less flicker and reduced motion blur can be achieved with 100Hz technology.
A very nice feature of the newest Panasonic plasma TV is that it comes equipped with 3 HDMI sockets; this makes it convenient to plug in an HD TV receiver, a Blu-ray player, and a upscaling DVD. One is side-mounted, making it easy to hook up other equipment, such as game machines. Along with this, dual SCART outlets, VGA (for a personal computer) and for analogue sources there are component inputs available.
