how durable can Nikon D60 Metal part in the body opening be?

I accidentally attempted to open in reverse the lid of the camera body (for the lense to attach) with good force, will this bend the metal or deform it in some degree? I need some clarification, and help on this..

Nikon makes extremely strong camera bodies. Unless you are some sort of hulk, or your lens acted like a large lever, your camera will be fine, though please, try not to hurt the camera in the future, of the camera fairy will come and eat your soul.

canon sd1100 IS color?

I can't decide which color i should get.

here's my take. at the end, i just cant decide!

Pink-out of the question! its for girls
Silver-the camera looks expensive which is good, but again, it's too plain for me cause everyone has a a silver one
Blue-It doesn't make it look good for some reason, kinda "meh"
Gold-The tint was more like brownish gold, kinda made it rusty looking. no thanks.
Brown-Reminds me of chocoalte, or the other thing. I'm not sure if brown is a nice color at all.

I have to go with the silver one. It seems like your best bet, since you pretty much dissed all the other colors and you actually liked something about the silver one. The only bad thing about the silver one, is it will show scratches easily.

Good studio lighting kit for the Nikon d50?

I have a Nikon D50 and i was wondering about a studio kit on ebay and if it is a good match for my camera and if it is even a good deal before i buy it. It come with a A Master/Slave Flash with 10' PC Sync Cord, A Slave Flash,Two A/C Swivel Umbrella Adapters,
two 7 ft Light Stands, two 32" umbrellas (A Silver Reflective and a White Translucent), A Carry Case. does this sound good and is it a good match?

It's hard to know exactly how this kit works, but please be aware that the D50 does not have a flash sync terminal to plug a PC sync cord into. If the master unit can be triggered with your on-camera flash (the pop-up) or if the master unit can be mounted in your hot shoe, it might work. If it relies on plugging into your camera, it won't work. You may be able to find a hotshoe-to-PC terminal adapter, though. If the seller is a dealer, such as Cameta or 47th Street Photo, they should be able to answer any questions about compatibility issues and I would suggest that you clear this up with the seller before you place a bid.

The D50 is compatible with the Nikon Creative Lighting System utilizing the SB600 or SB800.

Silver Jewellery - Pure White Background?

I need some help photographing highly polished silver jewellery against a pure white background (#ffffff) for use on a website.

I have recently purchased some kit for this:

Small white light tent.
An Olympus e520 DSLR camera
35mm Zuiko macro lens.
2 300w photography lamps with 5000k daylight bulbs.

I would like to get as close to this sort of thing as possible (setting the bar high I know!!) :

So far I'm struggling. I think I have the right sort of kit. But I'm not sure on camera settings and general setup for this kind of job.

Sorry I forgot to add that I'm not after the reflection effect, I just liked this image as it shows the cufflinks form and shape off perfectly as well as conveying a true silver colour and texture (something so far I have failed at)

Easy with the kit you've got.

Use the same basic setup as this (light from each side): http://www.flickr.com/photos/pchthetwit/4560372491/ but on white ceramic, and white seamless background.

When exposing remember to meter off the white, then expose that as +1.7 EV, this way it will show as white while not burning pixels. You will want to shoot in manual mode really so that exposures are consistent, and also set your white balance to daylight (or if you can set a exact number, 5000K to match your lights).
