Canon Rebel Xti

which is an all around better camera, canon rebel xt or canon rebel xti, i cannot decide?

I will mainly use it for photoshoots and concerts and stuff and weddings.
I know they have pretty much the same everything but which is better quality I have to by one by august for a wedding.

they are basically very similar cameras.. I own the rebel xt myself and it's been a pleasure to use it for 2 years and counting...

the main differences are between the rebel xti and the rebel xt is:

10 megapixels versus 8 megapixels
2.5 inch lcd versus 1.8
9 point autofocus versus 7
dust reduction system in sensor that is not available on the rebel xt

All said, I say if you want to save money, get the rebel xt..but nowadays you can get a really good deal on the rebel xti - around $700 including the lens. Although if possible, i don't suggest getting the kit lens because the optical quality isn't so great - myself, I primarily use a sigma 20mm/1.8 prime lens.

I've shot weddings, sporting events, graduations, etc. and the burst rate is great, photo quality is impressive and all around I'm very satisfied with my camera - and I'm sure the rebel xti is better!

Especially if you are going to shoot concerts - definitely invest in a nice piece of glass - something that you can shoot well wide-open, since the environment won't be so bright.

*Also one more thing - beware of bait and switch camera retailers. Though I have personally (luckily) not experienced them myself, they are plenty of them in business (ironically mostly in brooklyn, NY). If a camera price is too good to be true, it probably is a bait and switch scam. Check out retailer ratings at http://www.resellerratings.com before you buy at a place that sounds shady.

Which camera is better? Nikon D80 or Canon Rebel Xsi?

I'm getting a new camera, and cant decide between a Nikon D80 and a Canon Eos Rebel Xsi. The camera I choose will have to be great for scenic pictures, have great flash, and quality .

In comparisons like these opinions can be quite biased so it's best to look at hard data.

Here's some data from Digital Photograhpy Review which suggests that the Rebel XSi is a relatively better peformer than the Nikon D80.

With a comparable lens the D80 would cost twice as much as the Rebel XSI, and the image quality does not match the Rebel's. A one point difference in image quality is huge at this level of price/performance.
