Digital Camera Sealed
I bought a broken camera from Best Buy, they don’t want to take it back. What can I do?
I just bought a digital camera today from Best Buy on my lunch break, and when I opened it up 3 hours later to show my boss and co-worker, the screen on the back was cracked.
I went promptly back to Best Buy with my boss and co-worker who saw me tear open the seals on the box, and pull out the broken camera. They told me that I had dropped the camera, as the seals on the box were broken, and would not allow me to return it or exchange it.
The camera also had scuff marks on it, which definitely makes it seem like it had been taken out of the box prior to Best Buy’s sealing.
What can I do to get either my money back, or a working camera? I am very disappointed with them!
They must take it back if it was broken out of the box.
If they don’t – hopefully you bought it with a credit card. Here’s what you can do:
Go back to Best Buy and demand the camera to be either taken back for full refund or replaced with identical model. If they refuse to, take out the receipt, note the name of the representative you’re talking to, and in their view write on receipt: RETURNED TO JOE ON XX/XX/2008 AT 12:34PM. Then leave the camera with them and leave the store. Call your credit card company and dispute the charge. Explain that camera was broken out of the box, and you left it with the store. The credit card will refund your money.
You may want to call the CC first, and check with them if this is how they want it handled. Some credit cards will even refund your money without having to return camera to the store (e.g. they will ask you to ship the camera to them, etc).
This advice comes from personal experience. One day I bought a portable butane stove from local store, when I opened it, turned out it had missing parts. I brought it back to store, but they said they can’t take it back without missing parts. Dough… I wouldn’t be returning it if it was a complete set… So I just left it on the counter as noted above, and CC charged back the store for it. Took a few weeks to resolve, but while the charge is in dispute, you don’t have to pay it to the card anyway, and no interest is being accrued…. Even if it takes a few months to resolve.

What Do You Need to get a camcorder video on the computer?
I’m saving up to buy a camcorder or video camera(whichever you prefer) So I have to pick one out. Can anyone please tell what memory card and camcorder works best together please please please. I don’t care what type it is as long as its not super cheap or expensive. You see I’m trying to put videos on you tube so I need a memory card that can be put into the Computer (how does that work)?? Any computer people close by? Can anyone Help Me????
I’ve put many videos on YouTube – and my camcorders use miniDV tape. You do not need a memory-card based camcorder to upload video to YouTube… but they will work, too.
miniDV tape camcorders require your computer to have a firewire port. If your computer does not have one, hopefully it has an available expansion slot so you can add one. You will need a firewire cable, too.
Flash memory and hard disc drive camcorders use USB to copy files to your computer. You will probably want to download and install StreamClip to convert the video files so your video editor can use them.

Suggest taking a look at that Canon FS100 or ZR960.

Digitam cams or camcorders. . .?
I want to get a camcorder that also does still photos or a digital camera- the problem is that my budget is $300. . .any suggestions?

Many digital P&S cameras will do video, too.
I believe none of them do video as well as a camcorder, and no camcorder takes still photos as well as a camera.
You know the phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none”, right? It applies here, too.
However, if you’re happy with ok to acceptable (rather than very good) results, you’ll find plenty of little cameras that can do both.

How to charge my Sanyo VPC-E890. HELP!!!!?
Today i purchased the light green Sanyo VPC-E290 from Walmart. When i plug it into the wall, no lights come on and it doesnt charge. There is nothing in the manual and i tried pluging it up to the computer and no “wizard” and no lights came on either.
*Also, it only turns on when you have it pluged into the wall!

How to get videos from my Panasonic miniDV camcorder to my computer?
I bought the camera about 4 years ago, it’s the little bluish-silver Panasonic miniDV. It has no memory card slot, and only takes miniDV tapes. I do see a Firewire port on the camera, an A/V output, and a port I do not recognize that is smaller than the Firewire port, it simply says DV above it.
Is there any special equipment or installations that I need for my computer to be able to transfer my videos? The more detail, the better.
The “DV” port is the firewire port. ALL miniDV tape based camcorders connect to the computer’s firewire port with a firewire cable. USB will not work.
If your computer does not have a Firewire port, install one.
Firewire, IEEE1394a, i.Link and DV are all the same thing… and neither are USB. They use different communications protocols.

go to a store like walmart, target, best buy, or circit city. preferably target or walmart will have a very cheap camera,(80-100$) the resolution wont be the best but its ok and its not that terrible.
