Easy to use, and great features!

We have 14 of these camera's in use in our surgery center, I choose and purchase all our cameras. Last year we went through an exhaustive search to see if Nikon, Canon, Kodack, and several other brands would work as well as our Sony's that we've used for the last 4 years. After purchasing several cameras to try them out, we decided to stay with Sony, due to ease of use and reliability. After reading the reviews we choose the DSC-W220, and replaced all our surgery and skin graphing camera's with these. We are thrilled, they are extremely easy to use and yet give us incredibly detailed photos. Each camera takes about 1000 photos a month, and these have been real champs so far. We have had no problems, and even our newest most camera-shy nurses have taken to them very easily.

If your looking for a powerful, lots of functions, easy to use camera at a good price, I'd definitely recommend this one.
Sony/Zeiss makes great combo.

Reviewer: D. Ehrich,
I love the size, the lens and the on-screen and menu options. The photo display does not give the final photos justice, so you have to learn to adjust your expectations. For example, many of my distant mountain shots lacked definition and depth when I looked at the camera, but when I downloaded them into iPhoto, they were sharp, with great depth and detail. So I got a 4 GB card and I don't delete anything until I see it on the computer screen later. You'll love this camera.
Awesome camera for an awesome price

I don't know what you can get in a camera that only cost 180 dollars. But Sony Cybershot DSC-W220 is seriously a awesome camera composed of 12.1 megapixel, face detection and a lot more. Shipping from Amazon was fast and easy. This camera make taking pictures fun, enjoyable and a snap. So if you're looking for a good awesome digital camera, i would recommend this one.

Pro: Great image quality, outstanding 3200 iso. 4x opt lens
light 147 gms. 2.7 LCD is good and bright. Not so noise images at 1600 iso.
This camera is better than my Casio exilim or my pentax optio.

Cons: You can't adjust zoom while you are recording video. Not SD compatible

I paid 165 dollars, this camera is really great value for your money!
GREAT CAMERA

After the camera shipped it was delivered in only a few days and in very good condition. It works just fine and is a great point and shoot camera. If you want a camera that is easy to operate and very good quality then this one should be considered.
Easy to Use - High Quality Camera

I purchased this camera as a gift for my in-laws. They are in their mid-60's and they have owned digital cameras in the past. However, they were not looking for something that would require a lot retraining on how to use a "new" camera. Enter DSC-W220 with its sleek look and straight-forward controls. My in-laws were knowledgeable about the cameras usage in just a few minutes.

While the camera is easy to use it does not skimp on performance. Mind-you this is not a camera your going to see used by photo journalist, but it is more than adequate for most families. The features that we enjoyed

- Giant viewable screen - essentially the entire back of the camera is a viewing screen.

- Picture capture is very fast

- The DSC-W220 is "Smart" and makes it very easy to capture pictures regardless of the light condition, required shutter speed and other factors.

- 12.1 MegaPixels is a giant file and will let you get very highquality prints even at large sizes.

- The battery can be removed and (using the included adapter) plugged directly into a wall outlet - the in-laws really apprecaited the ease of this feature.

Final VErdict - A great value on a easy-to-use high quality camera. This is a camera for the masses.

We purchased this for our son and daughter-in-law for their anniversary as their old digital camera had given up the ghost ~ and they both love to take tons of photos. I did a lot of research and it came down to this one or a similar Nikon, however as we have had Sony cameras before (and were pleased with them), we decided on this particular model. We wanted something relatively inexpensive for now as we will be getting them an SLR outfit in the future.

The only CON I can mention is that you MUST have a Sony Pro Duo Memory Card/Stick to use with this and advise getting it on Amazon at the time this camera is purchased. Our son told us to never mind the Memory Card/Stick, that he felt he could get one locally (they live several states away) however Best Buy sold him two different kinds that did not work and on the third trip, he found they wanted TWICE as much as Amazon Sellers for the Sony Pro Duo Memory Card/Stick. I purchased one on Amazon then from an Amazon Seller on the East Coast for less than $20 (including shipping) and it was delivered three days later. So this was not an issue in the end, however if I had known, I would have ordered it at the same time I ordered the camera.

AND my son said I should NOT mark the camera down in stars because it requires a Sony-brand Pro Duo Memory Card/Stick ...

The reason being (besides his stating that that is just good old capitalism) is that they think the camera is "AWESOME." We don't hear too much from them these days (written word) as they have been busy playing with their new toy in their spare time, however we HAVE received a number of "AWESOME" photos from them ~ the quality has been such that we have printed out 5 x 7s and 8 x 10s for framing that have been "AWESOME" as well.

Another self-imposed requirement I had was that the camera come with its own battery and charger as I hate the thought of buying and keeping AA batteries for anything such as this. This does come with the battery and charger, so it fit the bill in that regard as well. Battery life is substantial between chargings, the videos are nice and it is very easy to use and figure out. It's a great all-around little Point-and-Shoot camera for the price.

My husband and I were in Target a week ago and they had the same camera there, so we were able to actually see it and play with it a little. It is small, not the small size of the Nikon we had considered getting, but pocket-sized nonetheless and substantial enough that it could not fall out of one's pocket without one knowing, we felt. Also, I should mention here that the exact same camera at Target was on sale ($50 off) and was still $50 more than what we paid for it on Amazon (with Free SuperSaver Shipping). They also wanted $5 more for a Sony case that I am going to order on Amazon for it.

We are so impressed with the pictures and videos that we are seriously considering purchasing another one for our own use. However, again, I suggest ordering the Sony Pro Duo Memory Card/Stick from an Amazon Seller (if you don't already have one) when you purchase this ~ they are usually sent First Class Mail, so you may also want to check to see what Seller is closest to you as a number of them (with shipping added in) are very similar in price.

Amazon fulfilled the order at a fulfillment center west of the Mississippi, so it took about a week to arrive (to an East Coast location) after ordering, not unreasonable at all. It was well-packed and arrived in great condition. Another great Amazon experience.

I bought this camera for my daughter to replace the one I lost. She loves it and from what I can see it takes good picures and holds up pretty well. Unless you drop it off a cruise ship into the ocean.
Great Camera for a Great Price!!

I bought this camera for $130 which is awesome.

The picture quality is incredible with 12 mp.
Since I am a person who prints a lot of photos, this camera has been great!
It has a lot of extra features such as taking a photo when it sees a smile. But I Prefer the Auto mode.
It's battery lasts very long.

I have no regrets on buying this. I recommend this Sony camera!
